"Canadian and American Geography has made us neighbors.  History has made us friends.  Economics has made us partners.  And necessity has made us allies.  Those whom nature has so joined together, let no man put asunder."   -President John F Kennedy, Inaugural Address, Jan 20, 1961.

"The grass in Canada is not stained with blood."  -Sitting Bull

Discover how you can Immigrate to Canada without spending thousands of dollars paying for consulting services.
Now You Can!

Announcing "My Immigration Consultant", the easiest and the most cost efficient way to Immigrate to Canada.

Canadians are welcoming you! There are two ways of applying for a Permanent Resident for Canada. You can do all the work yourself and save a lot of money, or you can pay an Immigration Consultant  between $1,000 to $3,000 or more to prepare the files for you.

That is a lot of money even for someone living in a wealthy country. Truth is, most people can not afford that kind of money. That is why we designed " My Immigration Consultant more on this in a bit...

Strategic Immigration Services has developed this Software (E-book style), to help prospective immigrants to Canada who live in countries that are not  so fortunate financially. We always make a point of providing confidential, secure, high quality professional services based on experience, trust, competence and strict ethical standards.

Your ability to meet the Canadian immigration criteria depends, of course, on your personal and professional background. By the same token, it also depends on the way you will answer the Canadian Immigration officer's questions so that you manage to provide him/her, in less then 1/2 hour time, with the selected information that best underscores your merits, while avoiding unnecessary mistakes that would weaken your case -- KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! -- WE WILL TELL YOU WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!.

WELCOME TO VANCOUVER! -- Vancouver, British Columbia

YES -- KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! In performing their assessment, the imigration officers have a duty to fairly treat each candidate. However, THEY DO NOT HAVE A DUTY TO PROTECT YOUR INTERESTS IN PARTICULAR. Given that the number of people who apply each year for immigration to Canada is considerably higher than the annual level established by the government of Canada, the imigration officers are expected to act selectively, in order to choose those who they consider to be the best. HAVING ALL THE NECESSARY INFORMATION IS THE KEY!

It is our role, through information, guidance and valuable advice  provided with this software to protect and promote your interests, give you full understanding of immigration laws, and to make sure that you are effectively considered one of the best and that you are granted the permanent resident status at the end of the immigration process.

Trying to do it all yourself can be frustrating and can take you  a lot of time. Even after you may think you did it all right, there may be missing information that can delay your application or worst, reject it .  Our interactive software (E-Book style) can save you from all the problems associated with "do it yourself" process.

Here are just a few of the reasons your application may be delayed or rejected.

It does not have to be this way. After all YOU deserve to be able to build a better life for your family. YOU should be able to go through the imigration process without having to spend huge amounts of money on consulting fees. Whether living in Canada as an American or coming from the other side of the world -- Everything is fully explained, to give you full understanding.

"My Immigration Consultant" does all the work for you for a very low cost.
It is designed to guide you step by step  towards successfully  immigrating to Canada.

Canadians are proud of Canada's heritage.  From the early days of the North-West Mounted Police -- the Mounties -- to today's technological society, we have it all.  American author James Oliver Curwood called Canada "God's Country" and used that phrase in several of his novels.  Bob and Doug, the Mackenzie Brothers, called us "The Great White North."  Whether THE GREAT NORTHWOODS of sled dogs and eternal snows -- which still exists -- or the modern, clean, crime-free streets of today's cities -- Canada has become the Place to escape to!

Companions of the Trail -- A Canadian Moment

Going Canadian, Eh? -- Our Comedians, Entertainers and Heroes

"The way to a Canadian's heart is through his funnybone." -Brian Alan Burhoe.

Comedy is sacred to Canadians.  MACK SENNET, born in Eastern Canada, was Hollywood's first King of Comedy -- he created the Keystone Cops (His American business partners said, "You can't make fun of policemen!" but he did anyway.) -- Slapstick comedy -- built the HOLLYWOOD sign on a mountain that he owned -- discovered Charlie Chaplin and many others.  Modern times have seen Rich Little, SCTV, Rick Moranis, Dave Thomas, John Candy, Martin Short, Saturday Night Live's Lorne Michaels, Dan Aykroyd, Jim Carrey and Mike Myers.  The Royal Canadian Air Farce is a Canadian institution.

Perhaps Red Green (Steve Smith) states the Canadian Philosophy best when he says, "Remember -- I'm pullin' for you.  We're all in this together."

Canada has produced many famous entertainers: Mary Pickford, "America's Sweetheart," was born in Toronto.  She was followed by Fay Wray, Raymond Massey, Lorne Greene, Christopher Plummer, William Shatner, James Doohan("Scotty"), Donald Sutherland, Michael J Fox, Paul Gross, Matthew Perry, Keanu Reeves -- Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians, Hank Snow, Giselle Mackenzie, Paul Anka, Robert Goulet, Bryan Adams, Anne Murray, Celine Dion, Shania Twain, Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morriset, Avril Lavigne, Our Lady Peace, Nickleback, K-OS...And, of course, the Cirque du Soleil...

Authors -- such as Lucy Maude Montgomery (ANNE OF GREEN GABLES), Sir Charles G D Roberts (creator of the realistic animal story), Ernest Thompson Seton (WILD ANIMALS I HAVE KNOWN), Stephen Leacock, Leonard Cohen, Robertson Davies, Mordecai Richler, Margaret Atwood, Farley Mowat, Carol Shields, Charles de Lint and Alice Monroe...

Recently, millions of Canadians voted for the GREATEST CANADIAN.  Among those nominated were Sir John A MacDonald, Father of Canadian Confederation -- Wayne Gretzky, the world's best hockey player -- Alexander Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone -- Dr Frederick Banting, discoverer of Insulin -- Prime Minister Lester B Pearson, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for creating the U.N. Peacekeeping Force -- Terry Fox, Marathon of Hope runner -- and others...

And the winner was... the Rev. Tommy Douglas, Father of Medicare!

MEDICARE -- The Canadian Universal Health Care Program

Canadians are justly proud of their Health Care System. Under Medicare, every Canadian citizen is entitled to free doctor's care, Outpatient and Hospital care, minor and major surgery, and much more.  Canada's national health-insurance program is designed to ensure that every resident of Canada receives medical care and hospital treatment, the cost of which is paid through general taxes.  The Atlantic province of New Brunswick has pioneered a "hospital without walls" program -- treatments that once required patients to be admitted to hospitals are provided in day-surgery units or out-patient clinics, reducing the need for hospital beds -- the availability of a fairly-priced prescription at a local pharmacy or drug store has made us the envy of the world...

Canada's free Medicare System has been praised by the United Nation's World Health Organization (WHO) as the best in the world!

Confederation

On July 1, 1867, the provinces we now know as Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia joined together to change the Map of North America and create the new country: The Dominion of Canada. It was the passionate idea of a man named John A MacDonald, the "Father of Confederation." Confederation was made official by the British North America Act of 1867.

As time passed, other provinces and territories -- Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Prince Edward island, and Newfoundland -- joined Confederation and became part of Canada, filling out the map. In 1873, Prime Minister John A MacDonald created the North-West Mounted Police to bring Law and Order to the lawless West and Yukon Territory. The Mounties were in place when Sitting Bull lead his Lakota Sioux into asylum in Canada, seeking refugee status for his people. The Mounties kept the peace. To bind the new Dominion together, MacDonald built the Canadian Pacific Railway, which stretched from Nova Scotia on the Atlantic to British Columbia on the Pacific, "From Sea unto Sea."

Holidays, Shopping and Tourist Attractions and Customs

Opening hours for things like shops and restaurants tend to be a bit shorter than in the US, but longer than in Europe. You can expect all shops to be open between 10 am and 5 pm Monday to Saturday at least, but there is great variation from one place to another. It is common for stores to remain open until about 9 pm on at least some days of the week, especially larger stores and malls. Again, details vary by place. Sunday opening is rare in some provinces and common in others.

Restaurants are almost always open 7 days a week and usually remain open at times well outside typical mealtimes. Convenience stores (small stores selling mostly food) are generally open 14 hours a day or more, every day, as are drug stores -- many come to Candada or go online to specific web sites to get a prescription at a registered pharmacy. As in most countries, attractions like museums tend to have relatively short opening hours, while things like amusement parks keep long hours. Canada 411 provides a directory of Canadian telephone listings, including postal or zip codes from Canada Post. Canadian Universities are among the most respected in the World, especially those in Nova Scotia and Vancouver, British Columbia.

The following holidays are observed in Canada. All banks will be closed on each of these days, and so will most shops and other businesses that wouldn't be open on a Sunday.

New Year's Day: January 1
Good Friday: Date varies, late March to late April
Easter Monday: the Monday after Good Friday; most shops open
Victoria Day: the Monday in May 18-24
Canada Day: July 1; formerly called Dominion Day
Civic Holiday: the Monday in August 1-7; see note below
Labour Day: the Monday in September 1-7
Thanksgiving: the Monday in October 8-14
Christmas: December 25
Boxing Day: December 26

Note: Civic Holiday may be known by other names in various places. It is not observed in Quebec.

There are observances on Remembrance Day, November 11, but many businesses remain open. Christmas is the major holiday of the year, and businesses and services that operate every other day of the year will close that day and often close early the preceding day. When a fixed-date holiday falls on a day that a business would normally close (example: Christmas on a Sunday), then the Friday or Monday of that weekend is taken as a holiday.

Quebec has a few special holidays. St-Jean-Baptiste Day, also called the Fete Nationale, is celebrated on June 24. Most places are closed January 2, though this day off doesn't have a name. Banks are open on Good Friday but closed Easter Monday.

The Maple Leaf

The maple leaf is a popular symbol of Canada. It was used as an unofficial symbol of Canada as early as 1700. It is on the penny, our one-cent coin, where its design has hardly changed since 1937.

Since February 15, 1965, a red maple leaf has been on the official national flag of Canada (at that time the Maple Leaf Flag replaced the Canadian Ensign, which incorporated the Union Jack). The Maple Leaf has become our most prominent symbol.

"The Good Ol' Hockey Game...

...it's the best game you can name."  Canada's National Game, ice hockey, developed on frozen ponds around British garrisons in Halifax and Kingston in the 1840's.  By 1875, ice hockey was being played with formalized rules by students of McGill University in Montreal.  In 1893, Lord Frederick Stanley, Governor General of Canada, created a Silver Cup to be awarded to the "best amateur hockey team in Canada."  The first winner was the Montreal AAA.

When the National Hockey League was formed, the Stanley Cup became theirs to hand out.  Today, there are six Canadian Teams in the NHL: the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens.  Of these, the Vancouver Canucks have won the Cup the least.  The Montreal Canadiens have won it 24 times, making world professional sports history.  The GREAT ONE, Wayne Gretzky, retired from NHL play in 1999, holding an incredible 61 NHL records, including 894 goals.  No player, in any professional sport, holds as many records as Gretzky.

The "single greatest goal in hockey history" was scored in 1972, when Paul Henderson scored for Team Canada against the Russian National Team.  Henderson's last minute goal won the game -- and the Series -- for the Canadians.  This victory began a fierce rivalry between Canada and Russia that continues today, although a close friendship has also developed.  Many talented Russians now play in the NHL, and are loved by the fans.  Our National Game is being played at the International level in over 20 countries.

Canada's Constitution

Canada's Constitution is the system of laws and conventions that we Canadians use to govern ourselves. Until 1982, changes to the Constitution had to be approved by the British Parliament. The Constitution Act, 1982 gave the Parliament of Canada the power to change our Constitution. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms also became part of the Canadian Constitution in 1982.

Canada Day

Each year on July 1, we celebrate Canada Day, formerly Dominion Day, the anniversary of Confederation.

The Queen

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is the Queen of Canada and Canada's Head of State. This means that the Queen is the formal head of Canada.

The Governor General is the Queen's representative in Canada. The provinces also have representatives of the Queen, known as Lieutenant Governors.

The Canadian National Anthem -- Full Version

O Canada

O Canada! Our home and native land!

True patriot love in all thy sons command

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,

The true North strong and free!

From far and wide, O Canada,

We stand on guard for thee

(Chorus)

God keep our land glorious and free!

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee--

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee!

O Canada! where pines and maples grow,

Great prairies spread and lordly rivers flow,

How dear to us thy broad domain,

From east to western sea--

Thou land of hope for all who toil.

Thou true North, strong and free!

O Canada! beneath thy shining skies,

May stalwart sons and gentle maidens rise

To keep thee steadfast through the years,

From east to western sea--

Our own beloved native land,

Our true North, stong and free!

Ruler Supreme, who hearest humble prayer,

Hold our Dominion in Thy loving care.

Help us to find, O God, in Thee

A lasting, rich reward,

As waiting for a better day,

We ever stand on guard.

(R Stanley Weir)

"I ate some Alberta beef last night -- and I'm still standing!"  President George W Bush, Address to the People of Canada, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Dec 1, 2004.

Where do Canadians go when they want to Escape?

"Middle Earth!"

New Zealand -- where "LORD OF THE RINGS" was filmed -- must be the most beautiful corner of the world!

New Zealanders are famous for their warm welcoming to fellow members of the British Commonwealth -- Australians, British and Canadians -- as well, of course, as Americans and Europeans.
